Comment: RIP easyinternetcafe St Anne's Square Manchester. Opened 23 Jan 2001, closed 27 Jan 2008. When it first opened it was state-of-the-art, clean, helpful staff, cheap access and open 24/7. By the time of its closure it was hopelessly out of date (Windows 98), dirty and broken equipment, expensive (£2 an hour), very cold, and very few customers willing to pay for such poor service. It was a cl***ic example of how poor management and lack of maintenance can bring a once thriving store to its knees. The final nail in its coffin was two years ago when there was a m***ive price rise and the withdawal of monthly p***es. This predictably resulted in the loss of most of the regular customers (including myself). It was now THE most expensive way to get online. The final closure seemed almost inevitable. I cannot believe that there is no demand in Manchester city centre for an internet cafe. Its demise is more due to incompetent management who seemed to have very little clue on even basic maintenance and updating of software. Yes I've seen it all from the shiny new store in 2001 packed with hundreds of people, to the wreck it became at the end with half a dozen people in overcoats trying to keep warm. What a tragedy, and what a demonstration of how NOT to run a business.
